Square Head Wins UBBI Mega Bull Showdown Derby

The UBBI Mega Bull Showdown in Orchard, Texas hosted by Exclusive Genetics and the Jaynes Gang is in the books and the winners have been crowned. 

The Derby saw a familiar bull back in the winner’s circle with #1467 Square Head from Owens & Martinez winning the event with an 87.5 point score. Square Head won $3,360. In second place was #969 Rumor Has It from Talbert/XS Ranch winning $2,520. The Jaynes Gang’s #103 Hotel Hou finished 3rd with 86.25 points and a check for $1,680. Three bulls split 4th/5th/6th place including Dale Glory’s #646 Living the Dream, Talbert/XS Ranch’s #961 Mudpacker and Carpenter & Hudgins’ #92 White Wolf all earning $280. With the win, Square Head moved to the #1 spot in the National Standings with $12,415 just ahead of Living the Dream who has a total of $11,443. Only $972 dollars seperate the top 2 bulls.

The event started on Saturday morning with 29 UBBI Futurity bulls on Saturday morning.  Paul & Lorie Daniel and Cindee & Bill Clark’s #00 Crazy Mother Trucker posted another 90.5 point score to win the event and $3,480.  Crazy Mother Trucker placed  just ahead of this year’s Wayne Hodges 4 Star Traielers “Super Series” Champion, #002 Fire For Effect owned by the Rockin’ Rafter P Ranch.  Fire For Effect earned $2,784.   The Jaynes Gang bull #3028-0 Stuntin’ Like My Daddy and Dennis & Jan Owens bull #79 Jo Jo posted scores of 87 points to split 3rd and 4th place and added $1,972 dollars to their win column.  Bull #X18 U Freakin’ Kiddin’ Me from Paul & Lorie Daniel and Jeff & Kelli Wells and the Jaynes Gang’s #068 Promises Promises split 5th and 6th and won $696 each.  Crazy Mother Trucker maintained his #1 position in the UBBI National Standings with a total fo $18,961.  Fire For Effect moved from 3rd to 2nd with a total of $12,062.

The Classic competition saw 10 really good bulls battle it out for 2 spots in the pay-off.  Paul & Lorie Daniel’s #846 Black Betty won the event with 88 points and a check for $2400.  The 2010 ABBI Futurity World Champion, Ragin JT from the Jerry Tuttle and the Jaynes Gang finished second with 87 points and a check for $1,600.  Black Betty extended his lead in the UBBI National Standinds by $5,540 margin over Shine Time!

The final event of the 2012 UBBI season will be hosted by Jeff Lee and Tuff Bull Tour Productions in Tunica, Mississippi on October 5th and 6th.
