Wrap Up on Red River Challenge

The 5th Annual Red River Challenge concluded it’s 2nd consecutive UBBI event this past weekend and crowned champions in 4 categories.  Toby Martin & Beth Bazzrea with Red River Productions hosted the event which attracted 140 bulls.

On Friday, the Derby kicked things off with 38 three year old bulls.  Flying D’s bull #X18 U Freakin’ Kiddin’ Me placed first with a score of 89.5 points and earned a check for $2,866.  In second was McConnell’s Bucking Cattle’s bull #040 with a score of 88.75 points and in third was bull #500 Half Throttle from Rafter D & Miller Farms.

The Red River Challenge continued with the Youth Futurity and Futurity on Saturday morning.  There were 25 Youth Bulls from 18 different UBBI Youth members and the field of bulls was really strong with an 89.75 point score winning the event.  That score belonged to Dana Sheets and her bull #7 Cupcake, earning a check for $1,200.  Finishing second was Hayden Johnson/Circle 13 Ranch and bull #124 Fast Track with a score of 88.25 points.  The top 5 finishers included Dominic Hogue-J&L Ranch with bull #JL45 Napoleon Dynamite, Tyler Robison with bull #5 White Trash and Westin & Orin Cobb with bull #-12 Grocery Getter.

In the futurity competition, War Tank from Stormy Foster returned to the winner’s circle with a score of 89.5 points and earned a check for $2,268.  Second place was Tom & Tish Peterson’s bull #23Y Pop-A-Top with 89 points and splitting 3rd & 4th place with scores of 88 points were Cross E Bucking Bulls’ #1114 Ellis and C/H Cutting Horses’ bull #5 Bells Ringer.

The classic proved to be a strong event with 28 bulls competing and some new names in the win column.  Bull #965 Under Cover Brother from Flenniken/Bowman took first place with a score of 88.25 points and picked up a check for $2,531.  Second place was Nathan Wolfe’s big bull #03 Red Bone. Chase Foutch brought the third place bull with Cude Bucking Bulls/CF Rodeo’s #9453 Wild Excuse and in fourth place was #96 Redneck from Terrell/Smith.
