Winners Celebrate at the Seneca UBBI Event

The United Bucking Bulls, Inc hosted it’s first sanctioned event in the state of Wisconsin on May 8th and 9th in Seneca! Curt Check, a member of the UBBI produced and hosted the event and he and his crew did a great job with the number of bulls competing and the “Buckin Bred” Livestock Sale. A total of 92 bulls participated in the yearling futurity, futurity, derby and classic. UBBI members from 8 different states including Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, North Dakota and Wisconsin gathered to see who’d get the money and the gold buckles.

“Curt did a great job,” stated Randy Schmutz, general manager of the UBBI. “There were 61 different two, three and four year old bulls and an additional 31 yearlings competing! Everything turned out really well and we’re looking forward to expanding the opportunities for bucking bull owners in that region of the country in the future!”

There were 17 Derby bulls and 16 Classic bulls competing separately on Friday night. At the conclusion of the performance it was Jared Allen’s Pro Bull Team and also Matt Scharping with Phenom Genetics who garnered most of the attention, claiming 1st and 2nd place in both the Derby and Classic events. Jared Allen’s bull #209 Bad Beagle won the Derby with a score of 90.75 points, winning a check for $2443. Phenom Genetics and their bull #215 Card Shark finished second with a score of 90.25 points and bull #228 Hunter’s Hitman owned by Lucas Cattle Company won 3rd place with a score of 88 points.

In the Classic, Jared Allen’s Pro Bull Team continued their winning ways picking up checks for both 1st and 2nd place. Bull #136 Uncle Tink placed at the top of the list with a score of 90.75 points, winning $2300 and in 2nd place it was bull #186 Up North Express with a score of 89 points. Nevade Berger traveled from North Dakota to Wisconsin with two bulls and was successful, winning 3rd place with bull #022 Wolf.

Activities continued on Saturday morning with a livestock sale featuring bucking bulls and ‘rodeo bred’ females on the auction block. The Yearling Futurity and Futurity followed at 3:30pm.

“We were pleased to see that we had 28 two year old futurity bulls competing,” explained Schmutz. “And even more pleased to see 31 yearling bulls competing.” Although the UBBI does not sanction yearling competitions, it is going to expand the opportunities for bull owners to compete in these yearling events, especially in the areas north.

The Yearling Futurity bulls were first on the schedule and Will & Irene Moyer with Up North Cattle (Minnesota) and their bull #41 Jethro showed out to the tune of 86.25 points to win 1st place and $1736. Finishing in 2nd place was bull #1405 owned by Mark Bekkum from Wisconsin. Curt Check Bucking Bulls won 3rd place with bull #471, scoring 83.75 points. Jared Allen’s Pro Bull Team placed 4th and 6th with two different bulls and winning 5th place was Three Sons Farms from Iowa.
