“It is really neat to see these young kids get so excited about the Youth Futurity Series,” stated Jimmy Ray, co-owner of the UBBI. “This is a really good deal for everybody!”

The UBBI made some exciting announcements regarding the 2014 UBBI Youth Futurity Series, including scholarship awards and the addition of the UBBI Jr Youth Futurity Program.

“With the help of donations and other financial assistance, we are going to award at least three $2,000 scholarships this fall to UBBI Youth members,” shared Randy Schmutz.  “James Hogue and Pull Do trailers has donated a new 25′ dove tail flat bed gooseneck trailer to be raffled off and 100% of the proceeds will go toward scholarship program. We are still working out details and will be making some official announcements about scholarships this year!”

In addition to the UBBI Scholarship Program, the UBBI will give even younger members an opportunity to get involved. The UBBI Youth Futurity Rules & Guidelines currently require that youth members be at least 9 years old at time of competition and not be older than 18 at the beginning of the UBBI season. Additionally the youth member must flank the bull, but can be assisted by an adult.

“We’ve had several younger breeders asking to be involved,” explained Schmutz.  “We really don’t like to say no to these kids, so instead we are going to develope the Jr Youth Futurity Program!”

The Jr Youth Futurity Program will allow youth members that are not 9 years old to be involved as a participant, but not actually flank the bull. A Jr Youth Member can enter a bull, but must have an eligible (between 9 and 18 years old) youth member flank the bull. That member can be a sibling or other eligible youth member. Additional details and rules will be published before the next youth event in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
