Forty-One Futurity, thirty-nine Derby and forty-four Classic bulls squared off to see who would be the best bull in each class at this year’s UBBI National Finals in Winnie, Texas.  The Futurity competition featured 41 two year old bulls from 12 different states and some from as far away as Indiana, New Mexico, North Dakota and Ohio.

Everyone knew the one to beat was #00 Crazy Mother Trucker from Paul & Lorie Daniel and Bill & Cindee Clark, and in the end the other 40 bulls did not prevail and Crazy Mother Trucker bucked away with the event win and $8,600 and the Finals Championship bonus of $10,000 for a total Finals haul of $18,600.   Finishing second at the UBBI National Finals was Melton Bull Company/Winston Loe’s #169, winning $6,450.

The big winner at this year’s UBBI Futurity Finals was Mike Trimble and his crew from Indiana, bringing 4 bulls and winning a check with all of them for a combined total of $14,190.  Also earning checks in the Futurity were Fire For Effect, U Freakin Kiddin Me, Little Z, Jo Jo, Rollin’ Smoke, Recovery Time and Best Tune!  See Complete Futurity RESULTS

The Derby also had familiar faces near the top of list and it was Lights Out from Frontier & Ray/Folds/Strickland who flipped the switch at the right time.  Lights Out split 7th thru 9th place in the first round with a score of 87.25 points, but it was his second round performance that got the most attention.  Lights Out won Round 2 with the highest Derby score of the weekend tallying up a whopping 89.5 points.  Combined with his first round score, Lights Out posted a total of 176.75 points, edging out Gigolo Beau by only a quarter point to win the Finals Championship.  Lights Out hauled away a total of $17,800 from Winnie, Texas.  See Complete Derby RESULTS

The Classic finals got tough in a hurry with bulls like White Lie from Scott Accomazzo (Ace of Spades Ranch), Que Mira’s Way from P.Martinez/Garcia, Shine Time from Norris Dalton, Mickey Mouse from Marlene Henry and Black Betty from Paul & Lorie Daniel all getting in on the mix.  In the first round, it was the Mickey Mouse show with Marlene Henry’s bull putting up the biggest numbers of the entire weekend with a 91 point score.  In second was White Lie with 89 points and Black Betty in third with 88.75 points.

The second round shook things up with Black Betty on top with 89.5 points, ahead of Shine Time, Compact from Greg Talbert and Mickey Mouse finished fourth in the round.  After everything was checked and calculated, it was Mickey Mouse winning the Finals Championship by only a half a point.  Mickey Mouse finished the 2012 season by adding $18,800 to his total UBBI earnings this year.  On a side note, congratulations to Marlene Henry and her bull Mickey Mouse earning reserve champion honors at the 2012 ABBI Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada!  See Complete Classic RESULTS
