MBBA Classic Year End Champion, #S714 Shadow Shaker

The Midwest Bucking Bull Association (MBBA) wrapped up it’s 2011 season with it’s MBBA Finals presented by Tehrani Motors  in Valentine, Nebraska on September 17th.  The Cherry County Fairgrounds was alive and buzzing with excitement as almost 40 different breeders from 17 different states competed for over $40,000 in finals prize money.

The MBBA Finals attracted 28 yearlings, 28 Futurity bulls, 30 three and four year old bulls in the Classic and 10 Maturity bulls.  The action started at 1:00 on Saturday with the yearlings, followed by the 2 year old Futurity bulls and finished with the 3 and 4 year old bulls in the Classic.  All ten Maturity bulls were featured in the Championship Round.

The yearling class was tough, but not too tough for 4 year old bucking bull breeder, Rehme Dibbet of Geddes, South Dakota.  Her bull Pork Chop took the event win with a score of 85.75 points earning $1,547 and the Finals Champion buckle from Jesse Jaymes Silversmiths.  Splitting second and third place was Borderline Bucking Bulls, Sexy White Knight and Darwin Ehlers bull Painted Pudge.  The Year End Championship went to Bill and Vicki Berger with bull #063.

The Futurity bulls really stepped it up and High Test from Phenom/Up North won the Finals with a score of 89 points and received a check for $2,782.  His performance at the MBBA Finals was strong enough to overtake the leader in the year-end race and High Test was also crowned the MBBA Year End Champion.  Matt Scharping and Will Moyer from Phenom and Up North received both the Finals Champion and Year End Champion buckles from Jesse Jaymes Silversmiths.  Finishing second was Chilkoot Charlie from Tricker/Shippy with a score of 88.5 points and third place went to bull #9105 from Bill and Vicki Berger from Strum, Wisconsin.

Thirty 3 and 4 year old bulls made up the Classic competition and the cowboys had their hands full.  Bull #753 Non Horny from Dibbet Rodeo Bulls posted the highest score of the entire competition with a whopping 90.75 points and the win, including a check for $3,965 and a buckle from Jesse Jaymes Silversmiths.  In second place was Emotional Rescue from Gerald German with 89.25 points and in third place was bull #810 from Byron Juma of Torrington, Wyoming with 89 points.  The Year End Championship was won by #S714 Shadow Shaker from Shippy/5-J/Alpine.

The Maturity featured 10 bulls and paid two places.  Thunder Down Under from Luedke/Shippy won 1st place with a score of 89.5 points, earning $3,420 and second went to Hippy Music from Phenom/Ace of Spades with a score of 89 points.  The Year End Championship was also won by Thunder Down Under.

The Midwest Bucking Bull Association was formed in 2011 and hosted 10 regular season events plus their Finals.  All of the regular season events were co-sanctioned by the United Bucking Bulls, Inc and money won at these events also qualified bulls to the UBBI National Finals later this year.  In all, 16 bulls that participated at this year’s MBBA Finals have also qualified for the UBBI National Finals.  A total of 25 different bulls from the Northern Region states of North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri have earned a spot at this year’s UBBI National Finals.

The MBBA awarded 96 Finals vests, 16 Jesse Jaymes Silversmith buckles and paid out $41,600 in prize money.  Congratulations to all the MBBA Finals qualifiers and good luck at the 2011 UBBI National Finals in October!
