In October of 2010 Jerry Nelson, Jimmy Ray and Randy Schmutz sat down inside the “brand new” Nutty Jerry’s and after a 5 hour meeting, the United Bucking Bulls, Inc was born.  Little did they know that so many bull owners would embrace the ideals and programs developed by the UBBI in such a big way!

The UBBI had an unbelievable first year and an even bigger 2nd season and there are a lot of folks to thank for their success.  At the top of the list are the sponsors, including Wayne Hodges 4 Star Trailers, Pro Bull Nutrition, Tres Rios Silver Buckles, Truckville, Nutty Jerry’s and our new partners at W-W Livestock Handling Equipment.

“There are so many folks to thank,” explained Randy Schmutz, the general manager of the UBBI.  “Several event producers, including Jim McLain & Mike Sellers at TwoBulls Productions, Jim McLain, Donny Gowin and Jay Weddle at the TwoBulls Group, Billy & Angela Blue, Jimmy Crowthers, Mike Hadley, Shawn & Denny Thorsell, Toby Martin & Beth Bazzrea at Red River Productions, Greg Talbert, Exclusive Genetics, Jeff Lee at Tuff Bull Productions and Walker Brooks.  These folks provided breeders an opportunity to compete at several new venues in 2012 and I want to say a big thank you to all of them!  To all of the UBBI members for saddling up and coming along for the ride, they are the reason we’re here.  I’d also like to thank the Midwest Bucking Bull Association (MBBA), who co-sanctioned 10 events with us this year in the Northern, Western and Midwest Regions.  Those events contributed to qualifying several bulls to the UBBI National Finals again this year”

From the beginning the UBBI set out to provide opportunities for it’s members and create unique events for it’s sponsors and bucking bull owners.  The Gold Standard Futurity, the Black Gold UBBI Derby and the Wayne Hodges 4 Star Trailers Futurity Super Series paid out almost $300,000 again this season!  The 2012 UBBI schedule included 33 regular season events, with 25 Futurity, 24 Derby and 25 Classic events in 13 different states.  In 2012, the UBBI also added the Youth Futurity Series and Bull Team Competitions and plan to add more in 2013.  With almost 700 UBBI members from 35 states, 1467 different two, three and four year old bulls competed at UBBI events this year.  Regular season payouts totaled $1,024,403 and with the UBBI National Finals purse, total payouts this year will be close $1.3 million dollars!

This year’s UBBI National Finals will feature 41 Derby, 45 Classic and 44 Futurity bulls competing for over $200,000 in cash and prizes!  Almost 70 buckles will be awarded to UBBI World Champion bulls, Go-Round winners, Top 12 Finals finishers, Year-End High Money and High Point Champions and Regional Champion bulls in each category.  In addition to the cash and the buckles, each participant will receive a UBBI National Finals jacket and each Youth Futurity Series participant will receive a jacket and the Top 10 will all receive a championship buckle.

Congratulations to all the UBBI National Finals qualifiers and thanks to everyone who has made the 2012 season a memorable one!
