Cheyenne Wells UBBI Derby-Classic is a Success

The UBBI’s Western Region hosted it’s second event this season in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. This ranching & farming community may be small in size but it put on a big UBBI event in conjunction with it’s Cheyenne County Fair & Livestock Show.  The week’s activities featured arts & crafts, a peddle tractor pull, a youth rodeo and all the fun and excitement a county fair is known for and ended with a concert from The Josh Abbott Band.

There were 17 UBBI breeders from 6 different states, including Kansas, Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, Montana and Texas representing 4 different UBBI Regions.  The event was a Western Region event that was co-approved with the Northwest and Northern Region.  There 25 Derby bulls and 15 Classic bulls for a total of 40 participants. 

Bryan Smith from Kansas picked up the win in the Derby and a Tres Rios Silver Championship buckle and check for $2,156.  Finishing 2nd was Kephart Bucking Bulls #903 with a score of 89 points.  Finishing out the Top 5 were #194 Beaver owned by Cocky Bull Ranch, #HC02 Cheap Trick owned by Around 3 Bucking Bulls/Cathi Hadley and #912 Pink Floyd owned by Hadley Cattle Company (Mike Hadley).

The Classic featured 15 bulls and all were bucked in the short round.  Bull #801 Slippery Devil owned by Rod Conat/Chester Conklin was the #1 bull with a score of 90.5 points.  Conat & Conklin collected $2,156.  Reserve Champion was bull #805 Eye Witness from Kephart Bucking Bulls and third was #7 Whiskey River owned by Tough Company Rodeo.
