Black Gold UBBI Derby Drug Test Results Are In

The Greenville Chrysler Black Gold Challenge UBBI Derby presented by the TwoBulls held on August 10th & 11th is now “officially” in the books. A blood sample was drawn from the Top 10 bulls from each of the two performances and a total of 20 samples were forwarded to Industrial Laboratories in Wheat Ridge, Colorado for testing.  Industrial Laboratories tests for 177 different substances including, but not limited to Clenbuterol, Boldenone, Testosterone and other Anabolic Steriods as well as B agonists, Repartitioning Agents, Growth Factors and other Hormones.

“I’m happy to report that all of the bulls that were tested were found to be free from any banned substances or performance enhancing drugs,” stated Randy Schmutz, general manager of the UBBI.  “This is positive news for our industry.  It says that our members and participants are refraining from the use of these substances and are following our rules against the illegal use of drugs and stimulants!”

Prize money checks were withheld from all of the Black Gold UBBI Derby winners pending the test results.  Those checks will now be forwarded by mail to all of the winners.

Bulls from as far away as Indiana and North & South Carolina competed for their share of $100,000 in prize money! On Friday night the first 50 bulls showed their stuff and at the completion of the first performance it was Rafter HB Cattle’s Gigilo Beau and D&H and Buck Cattle’s Stone Sober tied for 1st place with scores of 89.25 points. Other bulls finishing in the top 5 on Friday were Lights Out from Frontier/Ray/Folds/Strickland landing third with 88.75 points and Trampas and Downtown Brown, both from Folds/Strickland/K-C Bulls/Sparklin Acres with scores of 88 points, tying for 4th and 5th place.

On Saturday, the remaining 50 bulls lined up for competition and it was Kephart Bucking Bulls #903 and Living the Dream from Luther Halpain (Dale Glory Bucking Bulls) both with the highest scores on Saturday night. Each posted 88 points and moved into a split for 4th through 7th place. Twenty five places were paid and there was a tie for 21st thru 26th place, so 26 bulls earned a check.

Gigilo Beau and Stone Sober held onto the top two spots and split the win and earned $18,500 each and a Tres Rios Silver Championship buckle.

Jim McLain, Donny Gowin and Jay Weddle along with the TwoBulls Group produced a tremendous event with great hospitality and complimentary dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Hats off to entire crew including Todd & Christie Greenway with Omega Productions for putting on a great show!
