UBBI Announces 2017 UBBI National Finals Dates & Location

The 2017 UBBI National Finals will have a new home and a new date! This year’s final event will be held in Palestine, Texas on September 15th and 16th!  The Anderson County Livestock Arena is the new home of this year’s Finals, but a familiar venue for UBBI members, annually hosting at least 5 UBBI events each season!

“This year’s UBBI National Finals will have a few different twists,” stated Randy Schmutz, the general manager of the UBBI. “But the excitement and year-end climax will still be there as we crown our World Champion bulls in the Futurity, Derby and Classic!”

In 2017 UBBI National Finals eligible bulls will be ANY Futurity, Derby or Classic bull that has been to at least one (1) UBBI event, regardless of money won. The UBBI will accept the FIRST 50 bulls entered and paid into the Futurity, Derby & Classic events. ALL bulls will buck ONCE at the Finals with the Derby bulls on Friday night, the Futurity bulls on Saturday morning and Classic bulls on Saturday night. The UBBI Futurity, Derby and Classic World Champion will be the bull with the most money won combining Regular Season and National Finals earnings (excluding World Champion & Finals Champion bonuses). The UBBI National Finals Champion will be the highest marked Futurity, Derby or Classic bull at the UBBI National Finals after one go-round. The UBBI World Champions (Futurity, Derby, Classic) will each receive a $2,500 “World Champion” Bonus and the UBBI National Finals Champion (Futurity, Derby, Classic) will each receive a $2,500 “Finals Champion” Bonus!

Bulls will check in Thursday from 5pm to 8pm and again on Friday from 9am until 12 noon. The UBBI will host a mandatory stock contractor meeting and finals orientation, Free Lunch and Calcutta on Friday from 1pm to 4pm.

There will also be an optional Team Futurity competition in conjunction with the Futurity Finals. Details will be announced soon!

Blue Crush Lands in the Winner’s Circle

For the second event in a row, Denny McCoy stood in the arena accepting another Tres Rios trophy buckle, but this time with a different Derby bull. At the July Battle of the Bull UBBI event in Palestine, Texas, McCoy Ranches’ bull #442 Blue Crush posted an 87.75 point score to lead the pack by .5 point to win $2242. Close behind in second place was Bob Whisnant’s bull #4130 Ralph with a score of 87.25 points. Splitting 3/4 place were bull #411 from Mutt Neuman/Larry Wilburn and bull #406 After Party Blues from Winston Loe/Melton Bull Company. Both bulls scored 87 points. And finishing in 5th place in the Derby with a score of 86.75 points was bull #409 from

Friday night in Palestine, Nadine Ivy Phillips (NIP Ranch) was heard saying…”I haven’t stood in the dirt on an arena floor in 20 years!” But on this night, she did just that to accept the Tres Rios trophy buckle for the Classic win with bull #IV37 Astro. The big black scur-horned bull, and a son of the famous Asteroid, earned an 88.25 point score and a check for $2156! Two

different bulls split 2/3 place with scores of 86.25 points each. Bull #P43 Hou’s Bad News from Pistler/Carpenter and bull #153 Buzz Kill from 4M Ranch each won $1078.

buckle and a check for $1080 with a score of 87.25 points! The top 4 bull placed and received a check. Placing 2nd was Robison Bucking Bulls with bull #550 Misunderstood with a score of 85.5 points. Placing 3rd with and 85.25 point score was bull #55 Down Play from Bronwynn Cobb and finishing in 4th place was bull #51 Red Clad Armour from Brandy Kenemmer/3J Bucking Bull with 85 points.

The UBBI Youth Futurity Series continued at the Battle of the Bull with 36 entries and found a new name at the top of the list! Paiten Hilton/Rockin T Ranch and her bull #-531 Bad Blood was really good with a score of 88 points and earned $1440. Bull #581 Apollo Deniro from Cassidy McLaughlin/Twin Mtn Bucking Bulls and bull

#1502 Back the Blue from Millie Chism/Shallow Creek Bucking Bulls both tied for 2/3 place with scores of 87 points. And 4th place belonged to Trinity Ham & Ham Kids with their bull #152 Sugar Daddy with a score 86.5 points. Other youth members placing were Dominic Hogue; Chayden Stephenson/Flying W Bulls; Payson Tomaski; Garrison Nalls; Karson Arjona; Cassidy Porter/Rockin C Bucking Bulls; Two Brothers Bucking Bulls-Orrin Cobb.

The UBBI Youth Futurity Series Finale will be held in Palestine, Texas on August 19th!

The Open Futurity saw #516 Ya Buddy from 4G/McKenzie/Novak in the top spot with a score of 86.75 points, winning $2160! Followed by bull #560 from Davis/Tieman and bull #547 from Gary Long Ranch both scoring 86.5 points and splitting 2/3 place. Splitting fourth place with a score of 86.25 points were bull #505 #22 Kills from 4G/McKenzie/Novak and bull #25 Cracker Jack from Shining P Bucking Bulls.

The next regular season event will be in Locust Grove, Oklahoma on July 28-29!
