The UBBI Futurity Silver Select Payout Will Continue in 2017

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016

silver-select2017The United Bucking Bulls, Inc has always been on the cutting edge of new ideas to enhance the bucking bull industry! The Gold Standard Futurity & Black Gold Derby were the first events to offer ownership in positions to compete for bigger purses! The Wayne Hodges 4 Star Trailers Futurity Super Series offers additional bonus money and the use of a new aluminum trailer!┬áIn keeping with those cutting edge ideas, in 2017 the UBBI will continue with it’s Silver Select Futurity payout.

“In 2016 we introduced the new Silver Select payout and members really liked it,” stated Randy Schmutz, the general manager of the UBBI. “It adds to the number of paid positions at every UBBI Futurity event (except the Gold Standard & UFL futurities) and gives a larger number of participants a chance to win money below the normal qualifier payout!”

Entry fees at 2017 regular season UBBI futurity events are $500 and $50 from each entry fee will create the Silver Select payout and will be paid back 100%!

For example, at a futurity with 60 bulls entered, we will continue to pay 1 place for every 5 bulls entered, thus the top 12 placing bulls would earn a check toward qualifying for the UBBI National Finals. The forty-eight remaining bulls would then be eligible for the Silver Select payout (60 bulls x $50 = $3,000 paid 100%). Dividing those 48 bulls, 1 place for every 5 bulls, the Silver Select would then pay an additional 9 places. Silver Select winnings do NOT count as qualifier dollars toward UBBI National Finals or UBBI Futurity World Title.

“This is just another way for members to enter and win with bulls that are just out of those regular paid positions,” explained Schmutz. “The Silver Select payout adds value to our futurity system and keeps it simple for everyone to understand and also provides a return to more of our members!”

Dove Fest UBBI Event Kicks Off 2017 Season

dove-fest-2016-slideThe UBBI concluded it’s season on October 8th with the last performance of the 2016 UBBI National Finals in Ada, Oklahoma and started it’s 2017 campaign only two weeks later.

The first event of the new year was hosted by Cody Ohl in Hamilton, Texas at the prestigious Circle T Arena. Most people know Ohl as PRCA World Champion Calf Roper, but he has become a notable bucking bull owner as well.

“Cody has been involved with bucking bulls for quite a long time,” explained Randy Schmutz, general manager of the UBBI. “He owned the 2009 ABBI World Champion Futurity Bull, Pure Smoke and has number of bulls featured on the PBR Tour each year!”

The Dove Fest UBBI Shoot Out hosted a pre-futurity event for the up and coming 2017 UBBI Futurity standouts and gave everyone a sneak peek at what we can expect out of this new group of bulls. Twenty-one 2015 born bulls took the stage and bull #51-Sunshine Whiskey owned by Barrett/Willis posted an 86.5 point score to win first place and $1890. In second was Tomaski Rodeo Co/Travis Fowler’s bull #55 Madi’s Habanero with a score of 86 points. Finishing in third place was #X62 Hangman from Terry Coleman and in fourth place was bull #C16 Foul Ball, with a score of 85 points, from Rockin R Bucking Bulls.

The Classic featured a number of familiar 3 year old bulls about to enter their 4 year old season of competition. Money won at this event counts toward crowning our 2017 UBBI Classic World Champioin.

Pritchett/Melton Bull Company’s bull #9A was only hauled on a limited basis last season as a 3 year old and did not earn any UBBI cash, but he changed all that by breaking out for his 4 year old campaign by winning 1st place and $2645 with a score of 87.75 points. In second place, was a new bull to the UBBI tour owned by Clay Taylor. Bull #909 Runaway Train posted a score of 87 points. Barker Bulls from New Mexico brought bull #313 Space Jam to Texas and returned to the Land of Enchantment with a 3rd place win and a score of 86.5 points. And finishing in 4th place #317 Big Crush from Carl & Gayla Dunlap, posting an 86 point outing.

It’s hard to believe that the 2017 season is underway, but we already have a race in the Classic competition!
