The United Bucking Bulls, Inc (UBBI) produced it’s first sanctioned bucking bull event in 2011 in Winnie, Texas! Now in it’s 6th season, the UBBI has experienced growth in all areas, but is probably most excited about the UBBI Youth Futurity Series.

“It’ really overwhelming for me to see the explosion of our Youth Futurity program,” explained Randy Schmutz, the general manager of the UBBI. “In 2012, we hosted 3 Youth Futurity events with a total o f 43 entries! In 2016, we hosted 6 events with 312 entries! Wow. . . .that’s simply amazing to me!”

In fact, the UBBI Youth Futurity Series experienced a 42% increase in

participation from 2015 to 2016. Almost 60 different youth members participated in 2016 at 5 regular season events and the Youth Futurity Series Finale with 105 different youth eligible bulls! What’s interesting about these numbers is the fact that the UBBI Youth Futurity rules only allow each member to enter and participate with no more than 2 bulls per member at each competition. Each year the UBBI awards at least $8,000 in performance scholarships based on points. At every youth event, each bull earns a point for each bull it beats. In other words, if there are 45 bull participating the 1st place bull earns 44 points. The second place bull earns 43 points and so on.

This year’s winner of the Finale was Kason Arjona with his bull Livin the Life scoring 89.25 points, earning Kason a $1,000 scholarship. The Top 4 High Point bulls were: 1st Place #3-16 Pasture Blaster owned by Blaine Burleson $2500 scholarship; 2nd Place 3X716 War Head owned by Wyatt Schiell ~ $2000 scholarship; 3rd Place #04 Prayer Warrior owned by Westin Cobb/Two Brothers Bucking Bulls ~ $1500 scholarship; 4th Place #405 Kick Start owned by Millie Chism.

More than once we’ve all heard the phrase, “. . . .our youth are the future!” We all know it’s true and we can see it in all of our UBBI Youth members!
