2014 UBBI National Finals at Kansas Star Casino

It’s hard to believe that the 2014 UBBI National Finals is just around the corner, but once again it’s time to gear up for the “Grand Finale” of the United Bucking Bulls, Inc season! The Kansas Star Casino will open their doors wide and lay out the red carpet for UBBI members and Don Gay Bull Riding contestants on September 25th thru the 27th.

“Wow! We’ve had an amazing year and now it’s time to celebrate the success of our members and their bulls at our National Finals in Kansas,” exclaimed Randy Schmutz, the general manager of the UBBI. “We’ve made some changes in the format at our Finals that we feel will add value and more money-winning opportunities for our members!”

The entry fees in all three categories (Futurity, Derby, Classic) have been changed from $1,000 to $1,350. The UBBI National Finals will still pay back 100%, but this year each category will pay 25 places!

Schmutz explained, “We wanted to insure that if you enter a bull at our Finals this year and finish there among the Top 25 you will get a check!”

The payout from 1st place thru 12th place will remain the same as last year. $10,000 for first and $1,500 for 12th and the Top 12 will receive a Tres Rios Silver Championship buckle. Thirteenth thru 25th place will be paid the equivalent of their fees back ($1350). The Finals Champion, which is the highest marked bull at the Finals in one round of the Futurity and the highest combined scored bull in the Derby & Classic after two rounds, will win $10,000! The Finals Champion Bonus does not count toward the World Standings. In addition to our Top 25 payout, each of the two go-rounds in the Derby & Classic will pay the Top 4 bulls each night as well.

As an added bonus, Rawhide Portable Corral System will give away a new corral system to one of our UBBI Finals qualifiers.

“John and Mary McDonald, owners of Rawhide, have really stepped it up for us this year,” stated Schmutz. “After the conclusion of the Futurity and the first rounds of the Derby and Classic, the Top 15 scored bulls at this year’s Finals will be placed into a drawing for a new Rawhide Portable Corral System! We will draw that winner at the UBBI National Finals Awards Banquet on Saturday at noon. The winner will be given full ownership of the system, it’s theirs to keep!”

The Futurity Finals qualifiers will also be able to take advantage of a new program. After the completion of the Futurity on Friday morning, the Top 25, the Finals Champion and the World Champion will be determined. The Top 10 Futurity bulls based on scores at the Finals will be given an option to enter and compete in a Futurity Bonus Round on Saturday night during the Final performance. Entry fees will be $675 and will be paid back 100%. The Top 3 bulls in the Bonus Round will earn $3375 for 1st place; $2025 for 2nd place and $1350 for 3rd place.

“This is something we wanna do to be able to showcase these great Futurity bulls on Saturday night in front of a full house of spectators and fans,” explained Randy Schmutz. “It’s a optional event and if a Top 10 bull owner does not wanna buck their bull again we will go to the #11 bull and so on until we have ten bulls competing on Saturday night! We just wanna give these guys a chance to show off on Saturday night and win some money while doing it!”

This year the Hampton Inn, which is on-site and adjacent to the Kansas Star Casino has expanded it’s room inventory and is offering UBBI National Finals attendees a special room rate. Reservations must be made prior to September 20th. Use the promotion code: UBB

Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm each night and Friday morning at 9am for the Futurity. The UBBI National Finals Awards Banquet presented by Rawhide Portable Corral Systems will be Saturday at 12 noon in the Fire Club inside the Kansas Star Arena.
