“It really excites us at how much attention the UBBI youth events are getting,” exclaimed Randy Schmutz, general manager of the UBBI.  “We actually had a lot of parents at the Shawnee event ask about rules and guidelines and how to get their kids involved and that means we’re on the right track!”

The 2013 UBBI rule book states. . . . .Youth members entering bulls into a UBBI sanctioned Youth Futurity must be a Youth Member between the age of 9 and 18 years old and in good standing with the UBBI.  A Youth Member cannot be older than 18 years old, on the first day of January in the year in which the UBBI Youth Member applies for membership and must be at least 9 years old on the day of competition.  Youth Members are required to be present at Youth Futurity competition in which their bulls are entered and are required to flank bulls, but can be assisted by an adult.  Youth Members must be accompanied by an Adult at all times while behind the bucking chutes or in the arena.

The UBBI currently has a total of 6 Youth Futurity events scheduled this season, with four events remaining.  Plans are not yet confirmed, but the UBBI may host a special Youth Finale at the end of the season in September, just prior to the UBBI National Finals.

Thatcher Aduddell has been watching his dad, Jason closely and has learned how to flank and bring the tough bulls to town.  Thatcher’s bull #008 Bear won the Youth Futurity Series event with a score of 86.25 points and pocketed $1008.  In second was a new youth member from Colorado, Lexie Hackworth from Lex-Sha Outlaw Bucking Bulls.  Her bull #160 Fall Out Boy posted a score of 83.75 points.

There were 18 bulls and the youth event paid 6 places (1 for every 3 bulls entered).  Other money winners included Hayden Johnson/Circle 13 Ranch, Wolfe Boys Bucking Bulls, Baylee Burleson/7v7 Bucking Bulls and Justin & Tyler Robison.

Randy Schmutz said, “It’s really great to see the excitement and the anticipation on these kids faces! I know it’s been said a million times, but these kids are really the future of what we do.  If we can teach these young members to be competitive and be good sports, our industry will grow and move in the right direction for all of us!  The UBBI Youth Futurity Series will only get bigger and better for these young bucking bull owners!”
