Silver Select Series Added to UBBI Schedule

Friday, May 4th, 2012

The Silver Select Series has been added to the 2012 UBBI schedule, giving UBBI members a new opportunity to participate at specific events with an exciting twist.  Eligible “Silver Select” bulls will be defined as bulls that have competed in a regular UBBI Futurity, Derby or Classic competition during the calendar year.  Silver Select events will offer different levels of competition depending on a bull’s UBBI season earnings.  These levels will range from “non-winners” to bulls that have won not more than $1,000.

Randy Schmutz, the general manager of the UBBI explains, “The Silver Select Series could be described as a “novice” event.  These bulls have been hauled and have been entered, but maybe have not earned a check yet.  We want to give the members of the UBBI an opportunity to be competitive with these bulls and win money!”

The 2012 Silver Select Series will include 3 events in Winnie, Texas at the Nutty Jerry’s Entertainment Complex in June, July and August.  Futurity, Derby and Classic bulls entering these events must have entered at least one 2012 UBBI competition this year and won NO money.  Breeders can elect to participate in regular season UBBI events during these months, but if their bulls win “regular season” money they become ineligible to participate at future Silver Select events this season.  Money won at Silver Select Series events will not count toward qualifying for the UBBI National Finals.  Bulls winning money at Silver Select events will remain eligible to participate at remaining Silver Select events.

“Event winners will receive a Tres Rios Silver Championship buckle and we’re gonna crown a Silver Select Series Champion based on total money won at these three events,” shared Randy Schmutz.  “We are also going to crown a Silver Select “High Point” Futurity, Derby and Classic bull based on points earned for each bull beaten at all 3 events.”
